Some stay up late with friends to chat to unwind during a long week of work and others take a fun night at the movies. If you’re on a specific weight management plan you don’t have to feel blue when it comes to choosing foods to take inside the theater. There are a lot of options for you as well and it does not always have to be a big sized chocolate foods. Here are some healthy foods that you can actually enjoy while watching the latest movie flick without fear of having a caloric overload.

Traditionally, popcorns are the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to movies. It is the most popular treat available among movie houses that comes in several flavors too. But did you know that a large tub of popcorn corresponds to almost 1200 calories.

This is entirely equal to the amount of allowed calories per day for a diet management plan. Another thing is that popcorns contain high amount of sodium which can cause a bloating sensation and make you feel thirsty. This is where you would actually crave for a large serving of carbonated drinks or soda.

Actually, you can make this traditional movie snack healthy by popping them up on your home and simply bring it along. Make sure to cook them in vegetable oil and mix in a few sprinkle of salt or even sweet syrup for flavor.

Chocolates are considerably lower in calories as compared to popcorns. But such still depends on how big or small would the chocolate pieces would be. Why not substitute nut bars for chocolates. These are favorably more nutritious. If you really crave for chocolates pick one that shares cocoa up to 70%. Cocoas have lower caloric contents and they contain a great amount of antioxidants.

For beverages, it might be typical for one to order a huge serving already for convenience. But unfortunately, a serving contains 500 calories or even more. They also lack nutrients and simply fill you up with empty calories. For a healthier treat, there are beverages that are especially made for the weight conscious crowd. It’s true that they contain a great number of sweeteners but they have not been found to cause any adverse effects on health. It would also be more ideal to simply prepare a fruit juice at home and bring it along in the movies.

Dealing with Emotional Eating

There are many factors that affect weight gain and one of them is emotional eating. Many dieters suffer from weight management plan failure since they lack the ability to control their food intake during times when they feel emotionally down.

It has been a common practice for some to eat comfort foods such as sweets and pastry because it gives them a soothing feeling. Emotional eating is amongst the lines of other forms of eating disorder such as bulimia and binge eating.

Emotional eating is when you reach for your most liked foods whenever you have the need to cope with negative emotions which can include low self esteem, stressful situations, anxiety, a feeling of sadness and even boredom.

The best way to overcome emotional eating is basically to avoid using food as a means to escape those negative emotions. Find some other things to do aside from eating whenever you feel down.

You also have to determine what causes these negative states of emotions. For celebrities, it may involve lacking movie projects or getting low activities from the field that they usually excel. It is also very common among them to have a lot of stress from relationships since they are very much into the limelight all the time and nothing is kept too much of a secret.

How will you recognize emotional eating? Actually there are three major signs:

  • First, there are certain instances that you feel you have to eat something even if you do not feel hungry at all.
  • Second, you feel you have had enough but can’t seem to stop reaching for another serving of foods.
  • And lastly, there is a guilty feeling right after you eat. Under normal circumstances when you have eaten a meal to suffice hunger, guilt does not arise.

In this light, it is best that you opt for foods that have lower calories. Fill your kitchen or refrigerator with low fat snacks such as yogurts or fruits. If ever the need to eat arises there would be lesser calories for you to worry about every time you reach for the kitchen door.

Another way to solve this eating dilemma is to take it for a walk. Instead of eating it is best to clear your mind by means of walking. Maybe you can inspire yourself more if you have your favorite music playing through your headphones or brining your dog along for the walk.

It’s also the best time to catch up with old chums. Head over to their house for a chat or dial up their number if the weather is not that friendly.

Emotional eating is a part of being human, so do not be so hard on your self. Try to stay focused as well on maintaining a healthy and fit body.
