Celebrities have been following numerous types of diet but to date the Atkins Diet may have proved to be the most popular one around. This diet being a low-carb one has created a great impact among many Americans. However the Atkins Diet has had it shares of criticisms.

For one, the duration of how long a person must go through this diet is one of the issues that have aroused. There have been celebrities and ordinary people who have chosen this type of diet for to quickly shed off their extra weight while some have made it a point to incorporate it in for a longer term. The truth is, almost all types of low-carb diets are effective but resuming to the former eating practices would inevitably gain back the weight

that was lost and even add on some more than the original digits they had. The Atkins Diet is one that is based on a low-carb diet. It was best explained as a diet that addresses a health condition known as hyperinsulinism that pertains to an overproduction of insulin hormones.

This happens when an individual devours in eating too much carbohydrates in their diet. The problem with carbohydrates is that they actually get stored in the body when they are not burned through physical activities or fitness regimen. Later on the carbohydrates accumulate in the body and take the form of unsightly bulges. Science has not yet accepted the theory behind this diet although it is can be considered scientifically logical.

The hormone Insulin runs throughout the body and causes some chemical reactions. It may induce a balance into the system but sometimes over consumption of carbohydrates pumps up its activity and distorting the necessary balance.

There are several phases in the Atkins Diet plan. This has a great effect for people who are into eating high amounts of carbohydrates and also those who have a low level for their blood sugar. In this light the body may fail to produce glucose hormones that the brain and muscles require for proper performance. This now causes a sudden feeling of exhaustion or the exact opposite.

Accordingly, this diet would be more beneficial for people who have sensitivity to carbohydrates and slower rate of metabolism. The formula for the Atkins diet is that there should be low carbohydrate consumption in an opposite proportion to protein and fats. The keyword was “low carbohydrates” which means you can still enjoy your favorite carbohydrate sources but on a very limited scale.
